Make it seven blowout wins for the Hawthorne Hornets this season. They took their matchup at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 66-17 win over North Marion. The victory was nothing new for Hawthorne as they're now sitting on six straight.
Jhalea Jackson had a dynamite game for Hawthorne, dropping a double-double on 13 rebounds and ten assists. Jackson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ranicia Coleman, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, North Marion saw an underclassman step up: Amarane Hopkins scored nine points along with ten rebounds. Hopkins continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Hawthorne's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for North Marion, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Hawthorne will head out on the road to challenge Gainesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Gainesville is ranked 132nd, while Hawthorne is ranked 137th). North Marion won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Dunnellon at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Dunnellon is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
