The York Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 11th straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Catawba Ridge, falling 75-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for York in their matchups with the Copperheads: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, York still got an impressive performance from Bryson Steele, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Jaxon Wilkins-Graham was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Catawba Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lance Barnes, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Barnes hasn't dropped below 20 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyan Hager, who scored 21 points along with three steals.
York's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Catawba Ridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season.
York is on the road again on Friday and plays the Trojans at 7:45 p.m. on February 2nd. Northwestern is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Catawba Ridge, they will be playing at home against the Bruins at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lancaster comes in on five and the Copperheads on ten.
