The Oak Grove Lutheran Grovers will head out on the road to take on the Valley City Hi-Liners at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Grove Lutheran is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Oak Grove Lutheran suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 69-46 loss at the hands of Wahpeton. While losing is never fun, Oak Grove Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Wahpeton is ranked ninth).
Meanwhile, Valley City opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-50 defeat to Wyndmere/Lidgerwood.
Oak Grove Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Valley City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Oak Grove Lutheran was able to grind out a solid win over Valley City in their previous meeting back in December of 2020, winning 72-64. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oak Grove Lutheran since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
