Silver Valley is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Burroughs a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Silver Valley Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Burroughs Burros at 3:15 p.m.
Silver Valley came up short against Lucerne Valley on Friday, falling 29-12.
Kathlyn Ternes made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Denise Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Burroughs made easy work of Barstow on Tuesday and carried off a 9-1 win.
Ashlynn Boyle made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Boyle was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Taylor King was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Allesandra Avitia, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Burroughs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.
Silver Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Burroughs, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.
