Baseball Recap: Salem Takes a Loss

Salem dropped their record down to 10-8-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Southwestern Rebels by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 17th.

As for Southwestern, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Five seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Southwestern's part, their victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Cook, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Cook has launched this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem will host Charlestown at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southwestern, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Milan at 5:00 p.m. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
