Chaparral (10-1) had a 42-0 lead with 1:53 left in the first half playing largely against Saguaro's reserves. It left an empty bitter feeling all around especially the fans who packed the Chaparral field, including Arizona State offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone, who came to watch Saguaro senior running back D.J. Foster, who has 41 touchhdowns.
Foster didn't play except during warm-ups.
Chaparral coach Charlie Ragle tried to bite his lip during post-game interviews. "I'm not going to get into a war of the word," he told
Richard Obert of the Arizona Republic. He did call the game "disappointing and frustrating."
