Monroe Central entered their tilt with Shenandoah with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Monroe Central enjoyed a cozy 43-24 win over Shenandoah. 43 seems to be a good number for Monroe Central as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Kimber Abshear was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Addy Puckett was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Yorktown had to settle for a 43-40 loss against Wapahani on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that Yorktown let down their fans at home.
Despite their loss, Yorktown saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lilly Sylvester, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The matchup was Sylvester's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Barnes, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
Monroe Central pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Yorktown, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Monroe Central have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Yorktown struggles in that department as they've been even better at 31.4 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
