Badger hasn't had much luck against Waterford recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Badgers will head out on the road to take on the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Badger came out on top against East Troy on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Badgers took their contest against the Trojans 5-1.
Lylla Metcalf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Callie Petersen, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Miah Butinas was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waterford). Everything went their way against Waukesha West on Saturday as they made off with a 12-1 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Jaydin Kiser made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Kiser was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Waterford got a massive performance out of Cailyn Kysely, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Kysely has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Kendall Evjen, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Waterford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waukesha West only posted a batting average of .190.
The win made it two in a row for Waterford and bumps their season record up to 5-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Badger, their record now sits at 10-8.
Badger might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Waterford when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Badgers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
