Thornton is 1-6 against Skyview since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Thornton Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Skyview Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Thornton didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Aurora Central, but they still walked away with a 44-39 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Thornton.
Meanwhile, Skyview stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Gateway on the road to the tune of 59-13. Given Skyview's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Gateway is ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Skyview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jada Kemm, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Yzabella Tafoya was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Thornton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Skyview, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
Thornton took a serious blow against Skyview in their previous matchup back in January, falling 72-25. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Thornton was down 42-20.
