WPIAL AAAA Foothills recap Oct. 30, 2012
Connellsville moved up to 251 from 311 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AAAA Foothills. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Altoona 27-12.
Norwin was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to seventh in the league. Earlier in the week, the Knights triumphed over Shaler Area 20-13.
Gateway's dynamic duo of Thomas Woodson and Todd Jeter proved tough for McKeesport to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Woodson threw for 152 yards and Jeter had 75 yards receiving. Montae Nicholson helped Gateway's passing attack out by catching three balls for 32 yards.
Patrick Turner was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 103 yards on 12 carries as Kiski Area beat the Tigers. Lincoln Clayton also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.
Gateway's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Woodson has thrown for 1840 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Nicholson has 17 catches for 523 yards. Andre Martin leads the league in rushing with 658 yards.
The Cavaliers took down Greater Latrobe 41-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Turner threw for 30 yards in the win.
