While it was all tied up 24-24 at halftime, the Blacksburg Wildcats were not quite the Greer Middle College Blazers's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell 57-44 to the Blazers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Blacksburg in their matchups with Greer Middle College: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ziyon Harris, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Gilfillan, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Blacksburg's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Greer Middle College, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.
Blacksburg will head out on the road to take on Greenville Tech Charter at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Blacksburg is facing Greenville Tech Charter at the right time seeing as Greenville Tech Charter is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Greer Middle College, they will be playing at home against Landrum at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Landrum's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 contests.
