Heritage (Littleton, Colo.) and
Castle View (Castle Rock, Colo.) both tightened up defensively, but Heritage managed to score enough to pull out the 14-6 victory.
The Eagles scored on two rushing touchdowns to secure the victory.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the second quarter, Heritage was up 7-6 at the half.
Castle View's only touchdown came on a 55-yard pass from undefined to
Charles Sims in the first quarter.
HHS has struggled this season, allowing 30.4 points per game. However, Heritage's defense dug in and limited the Sabercats well below their season average of 19.6 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 35-30 win for the Eagles.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Heritage, which was coming off a 37-29 defeat at the hands of Legend in its previous game.
Heritage (4-4) goes up against Fountain-Fort Carson in a 5A Pioneer game matchup next week, while Castle View (3-5) locks horns with Legend also in a 5A Pioneer game.
