Basketball Recap: Sunlake Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Sunlake hadn't done well against Wesley Chapel recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Sunlake Seahawks secured a 69-63 W over the Wesley Chapel Wildcats. This was payback for the Seahawks, who suffered a 92-67 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Wesley Chapel's loss came despite strong showings from Ethan Hicks and Sian Morris. Hicks went 6 of 14 on his way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, while Morris posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The contest was Hicks' 17th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caj Plante, who put up 11 points.

Sunlake pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Wesley Chapel, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.

Sunlake will take on Zephyrhills Christian Academy in a tournament on Monday. As for Wesley Chapel, they will head out to take on Berkeley Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
