The Milton-Union Bulldogs came tearing into Thursday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Troy Christian 64-38. Milton-Union's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Milton-Union's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Berberich led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shannon Brumbaugh, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Troy Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Lavy, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Orange, who scored 11 points.
Milton-Union has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Troy Christian, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Milton-Union will play host again and welcome Miami East, where tip off is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Miami East is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Troy Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Riverside at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Riverside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday.
