 Stella Absher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and five unearned) runs off   five  hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Cailey Evans was a standout: she scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 4-for-5.  Ella Gibson was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
 South Point  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Gaston only managed six  hits.
The  win (which was South Point's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to  hits: they averaged an imposing 14  hits in those games compared to only five in the others. As for North Gaston, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Point will host Ashbrook  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The timing is sure in South Point's favor as the  team sits on three straight wins at home while Ashbrook has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for North Gaston, they will welcome Huss  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. North Gaston is facing Huss at the right time seeing as Huss is stuck on  a  six-game losing streak.
