Two dominant signal callers in Trevor Glos and Gage Hobbs are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wilsonville Wildcats will face off against the Ridgeview Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilsonville will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Wilsonville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They never let McKay get on the board and left with a 70-0 win on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Wilsonville, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Keona Tam, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Wilsonville's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Noah Robledo, Vinjae Simina, and Riddick Molatore, who each picked up one sack apiece. Ryder Rodriguez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last matchup, Ridgeview made sure to put some points up on the board against Redmond on Friday. The Ravens simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Panthers 57-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Ravens' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Panthers are ranked 78th).
Wilsonville better keep an eye on Ryden Nakamura. He was instrumental in Ridgeview's win, rushing for 134 yards and one score on only 14 carries, while also catching one touchdown. Nakamura didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass. Logan Lee was in the mix too, providing Ridgeview with two TDs.
Ridgeview didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Redmond to a completion percentage of just 30.4%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Nakamura, Danner Frost, Marcus Hamann, and Bronx Lick, who each logged one passes deflected. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Ridgeview; they were averaging 65%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 65%.
Wilsonville's record now sits at 8-1. As for Ridgeview, their record is now 7-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Wilsonville has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 356.1 total yards per game. However, it's not like Ridgeview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 366.8 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Everything came up roses for Wilsonville against Ridgeview in their previous matchup back in November of 2018, as the squad secured a 54-20 victory. In that contest, the Wildcats amassed a halftime lead of 27-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
