4A Region II District 13 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Dru Smith and Joseph Harvey provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Lovejoy. The connection was good for 92 yards, the longest such play in 4A Region II District 13 this season.
The Leopards extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sherman, 35-27. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Bowman Sells put up the best numbers through the air as Matt Green's team topped the Bearcats. He finished with 10 completions for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Sells' favorite target this week was Justice Luce, who caught three passes for 118 yards.
Jackson Watts was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 164 yards as Royse City lost to the Leopards. Teammate Samuell Rushing added to the ground attack by rushing for 139 yards.
Harvey was the best wideout in 4A Region II District 13 this week as Gary Joe Kinne's team fell to Lovejoy. Harvey tallied six receptions for 127 yards. Jt Luper helped Sherman's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 110 yards.
Smith provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bearcats lost to the Leopards. He completed 21 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 47 yards.
Sherman's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bearcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 2858 yards and 30 touchdowns this season, while Luper has 53 catches for 992 yards. Tre Mask leads the league in rushing with 925 yards.
Mask of the Sherman is only 75 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
The Bearcats' Luper is only eight receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the the Pirates.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Bulldogs take on Lovejoy. Royse City is currently in sixth, while the Leopards are in first.
Wylie moved up to 338 from 373 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Bill Howard's team climbed the ranks as a result of besting Denison 50-33.
