After flying high against the Furr Brahmans on Tuesday, the Washington Eagles came back down to earth. Washington ended up on the wrong side of a rough 79-55 walloping at the hands of Yates on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Washington lost, one person who can't be blamed is Danaya Pope. Despite the final result, she scored 27 points. Pope scored a full 49.1% of Washington's points, the 15th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kendyl Harvey, who scored nine points.
Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Yates, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1-1.
Washington will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Milby at 1:00 p.m. on December 29th. Yates will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wheatley at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
