The Fort Thomas Apaches and the Baboquivari Warriors squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Fort Thomas Apaches had to settle for second. They fell to the Warriors 72-66. Fort Thomas' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Fort Thomas' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damare Dosela, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Dosela has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Olivar, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Fort Thomas' lineup was just a bit different on Saturday as Jasiah Bowman got a bit more time on the court (28 vs. his season average of 11.48). Bowman made the most of the opportunity, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Ashon Antone continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Baboquivari, scoring 29 points along with seven steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Antone has scored all season. Devin Antone was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Fort Thomas' loss dropped their record down to 23-8. As for Baboquivari, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Fort Thomas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Baboquivari, they will head out on the road to face off against The Gregory School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Gregory School is on a 11-game streak of home wins, Baboquivari a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
