Bria Gross made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten games.
In other batting news, Hayden Dobbins and Liliana Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Dobbins went 4-for-6 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs, while Garcia went 4-for-5 with five runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Dobbins has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Bella Lopez, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Tombstone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .673. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Christian only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Rio Rico's offense. They came up short against Douglas on Tuesday, falling 13-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Rio Rico's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Tombstone, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Rio Rico's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tombstone hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. It's a different story for Rio Rico, though, as they've only averaged .201. Will they be able to contain Tombstone's hitters?
