The Gilbert Tigers stacked a 16th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They breezed by Corona del Sol at home to the tune of 75-31. Winning may never get old, but Gilbert sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Gilbert's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Meisha Caserio led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Caia Campbell, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Penelope Williams and Ashlee Peters certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Williams scored six points along with two steals, while Peters scored five points along with four steals.
Corona del Sol struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Gilbert racked up 22 assists.
Gilbert has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Corona del Sol, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-19.
Gilbert and Desert Vista will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Averaging 69.6 points so far this season, Gilbert's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Desert Vista better be ready for a challenge. As for Corona del Sol, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Queen Creek at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Corona del Sol is on a five-game streak of home losses, Queen Creek a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
