Hill City is 6-1 against Cook County since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Hill City Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cook County Vikings at 6:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
Last Friday, Hill City was beaten by Chisholm 84-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hill City has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Cook County pushed their score all the way to 72 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 80-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of McGregor. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (59), Cook County still had to take the loss.
Denali Blackwell put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 27 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. He also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Recko Helmerson- Skildum, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Hill City has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Cook County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Hill City beat Cook County 60-49 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will Hill City repeat their success, or does Cook County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
