Dawson School is a perfect 3-0 against Bishop Machebeuf since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Mustangs will host the Buffaloes at 4:15 p.m. Dawson School is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Dawson School earned a 7-3 win over Flatirons Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Milo Richtel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Wheat, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Bishop Machebeuf came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Mustangs 15-6. The result was nothing new for the Buffaloes, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Jack Menke and John Menke made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Menke tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, John tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Menke scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while John scored two runs while going 2-for-4. John has become a key player for Bishop Machebeuf: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Sulser, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Menke, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Bishop Machebeuf was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Dawson School's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop Machebeuf, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dawson School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Bishop Machebeuf struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
