Softball Recap: Northview Wins Going Away Against Lithonia

Northview never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Lithonia Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jordyn Burdick made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Burdick was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Jinghan (Hannah) Xu and Anokhi Patel did most of the damage at the plate: Xu went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Patel went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Patel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Niki Karimifard, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Northview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lithonia struck out seven times.

The win made it two in a row for Northview and bumps their season record up to 8-16. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Lithonia, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Northview will square off against Johns Creek at 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gladiators have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Lithonia, they will challenge Carver at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
