The Community Christian Cyclones waltzed into Friday's matchup with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Trinity Christian 61-46. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Community Christian also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Tavares Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Evan Gattis was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Trinity Christian still got an impressive performance from Carter Jordan, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan scored a full 52.2% of Trinity Christian's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Christian LoPresti, who scored 2 points along with 12 rebounds and 3 steals.
Community Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Trinity Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.
Community Christian will head out on the road to face off against Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while Community Christian is ranked 133rd). Trinity Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greenville Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
