If the Chambers Cougars were feeling good off their 65-45 takedown of the West Mecklenburg Hawks last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Chambers took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chambers in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now lost three in a row.
Chambers' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nia Kirk, who scored seven points.
Jacquelyn Jakubecy was nothing short of spectacular for Hough: she scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Alexis Otto, who scored ten points.
Chambers has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Hough, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chambers will take on the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hough, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Mecklenburg has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 6.
