The Jacksonville Fightin' Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Palestine Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jacksonville come in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Friday, Jacksonville had to suffer through a rough 70-29 loss at the hands of Chapel Hill. While losing is never fun, Jacksonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 660th, while Chapel Hill is ranked 57th).
Jermaine Taylor put forth a good effort for the losing side as he punched in a rushing scores, and also picked up 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Palestine pushed their score all the way to 31 two Fridays ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 40-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chapel Hill. That means Palestine has now suffered back-to-back defeats.
Jacksonville's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-0 Chapel Hill and 5-1 Whitehouse (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 80.4% over those games). As for Palestine, their loss two Fridays ago dropped their record down to 2-4.
Jacksonville couldn't quite finish off Palestine in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 and fell 55-52. Will Jacksonville have more luck at home instead of on the road?
