Softball Recap: Muir Takes a Loss

Muir had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 10-6 to make it four. They fell just short of the Crescenta Valley Falcons by a score of 6-4. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Sidney Sims was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run.

In other batting news, Dailey Mitchell was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gigi Butler, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Crescenta Valley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

Like Muir, Crescenta Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Mulcahey Chloe. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Chloe was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Barnes Kate was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Ciara Sullivan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Muir will square off against Schurr at 10:00 a.m. on the 11th. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Spartans have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Crescenta Valley, they will challenge Grace at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will need to watch out since the Lancers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
