The Lancaster Mennonite Blazers won the last time they faced the Antietam Mountaineers, and things went their way on Thursday too. Lancaster Mennonite came out on top against Antietam by a score of 53-45. Given Lancaster Mennonite's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Antietam is ranked 547th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Antietam saw an underclassman step up: AJ Schiefly scored 21 points. The contest was Schiefly's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Coste, who scored five points.
Lancaster Mennonite's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Antietam, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Lancaster Mennonite will be playing at home against Lancaster Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lancaster Country Day comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Antietam and Brandywine Heights Area will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
