Douglas County extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 27-21 W against the Newton Rams. Despite the loss, Newton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore George Bell picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles. Kevin Hartsfield is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 128 every time he's taken the field this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglas County will take on Langston Hughes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Newton, they will venture away from home to square off against Bryant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
