The win was some much needed relief for the Spudders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Landon Debeaumont was a one-man wrecking crew for Ridgefield as he threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Another passer making a difference was Cly Stephens, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Ridgefield wouldn't let Prairie keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Wyatt Hemmelman, Jake Olsen, and William Andrew picked up one apiece. Hemmelman got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 63 yards.
Meanwhile, Montesano couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 35-7 defeat at the hands of La Center on Friday. The Bulldogs were down 28-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
