The Corning Cardinals can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Oroville, posting a 49-13 victory at home. The win was just what Corning needed coming off of a 41-21 loss in their prior matchup.
Corning got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kanon Gregorio out in front who rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Geovanni Gonzalez, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Corning's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Oroville, their loss was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corning will square off against Orland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Orland's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. As for Oroville, they will head out on the road to face off against Paradise at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Paradise is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
