Mount Dora is 0-10 against Eustis since March of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Hurricanes will venture away from home to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m.
Mount Dora is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Belleview.
Mount Dora saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ADDISON GANUS, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eustis waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Indians an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won eight contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Carson Roden looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emmy Luke, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Dalilah Taylor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Eustis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Eustis' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Dora, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mount Dora has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eustis struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mount Dora suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Eustis when the teams last played back in February. Can the Hurricanes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
