The Page Pirates fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Dudley Panthers on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 61-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Assyria Hooper and Hattie Sloyan certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Hooper scored 22 points along with 3 steals, while Sloyan scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. Sloyan scored a full 27.1% of Page's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sutton Sherrill was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Page's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Dudley, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Page will challenge Ben L. Smith at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dudley will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Grimsley at 2:00 p.m. on December 2nd.
