Football Recap: Jay Piles Up the Points Against Winn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jay). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 44-13 win over the Winn Mavericks. With the Mustangs ahead 30-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

It was another big night for Brennan Oliver, who rushed for 141 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.

Oliver was just one part of a punishing run game: Jay was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Jay's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points over those games. As for Winn, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coincidentally, Jay and Winn will both be playing Cigarroa the next time they take the field. The Mavericks will head out to face the Toros at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on October 10.
