Basketball Recap: Williams' Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Williams entered their contest against Southwestern Randolph on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Williams Bulldogs fell 55-43 to the Southwestern Randolph Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Cougars are ranked 41st).

Loss or not, Williams got some senior leadership from Jordyn Taylor and Mi'Keina Springfield. Taylor went 6 for 8 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds, while Springfield posted seven points. Taylor is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Williams' defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Southwestern Randolph, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Williams didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-39 loss against Lexington on the 28th. As for Southwestern Randolph, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-30 victory against Randleman on the 28th.
