Softball Recap: Elkmont Has No Trouble Against Brindlee Mountain

Elkmont never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over the Brindlee Mountain Lions. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.

MJ Woodfin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Avery Harwell was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Julia Bradford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Elkmont hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brindlee Mountain struck out seven times.

Elkmont's record now sits at 3-4. As for Brindlee Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkmont will head out to face off against Athens Bible at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Athens Bible's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Elkmont's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Brindlee Mountain, they will take on Fairview in a tournament on Saturday.
