The Tuloso-Midway Warriors lost to the Zapata Hawks back in November of 2022, but The Tuloso-Midway Warriors didn't allow the Zapata Hawks the same satisfaction on Friday. Tuloso-Midway walked away with a 36-24 win over Zapata. The win made it back-to-back wins for Tuloso-Midway.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tuloso-Midway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damian Figueroa, who rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Figueroa really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Tuloso-Midway also got help from Jeremiah Garza who showed off his sure hands for 136 receiving yards.
Zapata's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jay Solis, who picked up 187 receiving yards and a touchdown. Andres Gutierrez also helped out as he racked up 133 receiving yards.
Tuloso-Midway's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Zapata, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Tuloso-Midway will square off against La Vernia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Vernia is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Zapata, they will be playing at home against Calhoun at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
