The Yosemite Badgers will take on the Wonderful College Prep Academy Wolves in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Yosemite not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 9th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Madera with a sharp 3-0 win. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Yosemite walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-8.
Wonderful College Prep Academy had won four straight home games and Selena Rico did her part to make it five on Thursday. The Wolves put the hurt on Foothill with a sharp 3-0 win for which the team can thank Rico, who had six kills, five digs, and four aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 aces per game.
Wonderful College Prep Academy never let Foothill on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-14, 25-22.
Wonderful College Prep Academy's win came from a few key players Yosemite will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Daniela Macias, who had 14 kills and seven digs. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Khobie Magana was another key player, getting four digs and three aces.
Wonderful College Prep Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in four consecutive games.
Yosemite's record now sits at 17-9. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, their record is now 14-5.
