Clifton Central took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of La Salette Academy on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clifton Central has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Clifton Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidan Podowicz. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Fritz, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
La Salette Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eamon Martin led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds. John Brauner was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Clifton Central has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season. As for La Salette Academy, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clifton Central will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for La Salette Academy, La Salette Academy and Danville will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing isn't great for Danville: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while La Salette Academy has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
