In this week's power rankings, we saw one team go soaring up and another team come crashing down, along with everything in between. Among the action were the efforts of Columbia's junior Jordan Smith, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Lakeland's 48 - 3 win over Winter Haven last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Dywonski Mcwilliams. Mcwilliams rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns. That performance landed Mcwilliams among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between American Heritage and Cardinal Gibbons, 10th and 15th in the power rankings, respectively. American Heritage lost to Cardinal Gibbons 24 - 14. American Heritage lost a lot of ground in this match: the team forfeited four spots in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
The Vanguard offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It blew past Gainesville 49 - 28. Vanguard did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps national rankings indicated. The combined 77 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
