River View had lost six games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 4-9 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the WestSide Renegades by a score of 9-6. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered an 8-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Turner Addair made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.
Addair wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was David Baldwin, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Baldwin has become a key player for River View: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Another was Trevor Vance, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for WestSide, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-16. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 29, 2019, but that streak is no more.
On WestSide's side, Sawyer Kenney made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. James Paynter also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
As of now, neither River View nor WestSide have any future games scheduled.
