The Emmetsburg E'Hawks will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Ridge View Raptors at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Emmetsburg's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
Last Thursday, Emmetsburg took their match at home with ease, bagging a 54-6 victory over Northwest Webster. The result was nothing new for Emmetsburg, who have now won six matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Jace Nelson-Brown, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last match, Ridge View made sure to put some points up on the board against Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto/Charter Oak-Ute on Friday. Ridge View blew past Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto/Charter Oak-Ute 45-6 on the road. Given Ridge View's advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto/Charter Oak-Ute is ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Emmetsburg's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Sioux Central and 2-6 Sheldon (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.4% over those games). As for Ridge View, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Emmetsburg against Ridge View in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 27-0 victory. Will Emmetsburg repeat their success, or does Ridge View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
