Northeastern Clinton is 0-10 against Plattsburgh since June of 2021 but things could change on Sunday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Hornets at 2:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northeastern Clinton comes in on seven and Plattsburgh on three.
On Saturday, Northeastern Clinton needed a bit of extra time to put away Ogdensburg Free Academy. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Blue Devils. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Lincoln Perkins made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Perkins was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.
In other batting news, Jordan Wells and Logan Dragoon did most of the damage at the plate: Wells got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Dragoon got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave Dragoon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert McIntyre, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plattsburgh). They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over Ogdensburg Free Academy on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Preston O'Neal looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Colin Walker was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Raif Lautenscheutz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Plattsburgh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Northeastern Clinton's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Plattsburgh, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Sunday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northeastern Clinton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Plattsburgh struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Northeastern Clinton came up short against Plattsburgh in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 5-0. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
