The Defenders gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Acadiana Christian Lions by a score of 9-6. The win was nothing new for the Defenders as they're now sitting on five straight dating back to last season.
Dawson Claudet was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Claudet was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Barras, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ezra Barras was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
