The Vanguard Knights extended their postseason success on Friday against the Zephyrhills Bulldogs. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 34-14 win. The result was nothing new for Vanguard, who have now won six games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Vanguard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mitchell Brown , who rushed for 125 yards on only 14 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Tay?juan Leslie, farmer, who gained 81 total yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Vanguard's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Kamerion Swinton and his 2.5 sacks.
When it comes to explaining why Zephyrhills lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brendyn Colella. Despite the final result, he threw for 249 yards and a touchdown.
Vanguard pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points per game. As for Zephyrhills, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Vanguard's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lake Wales at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Lake Wales is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Zephyrhills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
