Newberry Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 54-21 loss at the hands of Cambridge Academy. Newberry Academy has struggled against Cambridge Academy recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Indya Southerland continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cambridge Academy, scoring 19 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Southerland has scored all season. Alex Cockrell was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and four steals.
Newberry Academy dropped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.3 points per game. As for Cambridge Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
Newberry Academy will be playing at home against Wardlaw Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cambridge Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge New Covenant School at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Covenant School is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
