Meanwhile, Leeds put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Pinson Valley with a sharp 14-4 victory. That's two games straight that the Greenwave have won by exactly ten runs.
Nash Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He also put up a stolen base, which was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Joseph Bryant looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
Back at the plate, Ty Bedell was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Nelson, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.
Leeds was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Leeds pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for St. Clair County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
St. Clair County came up short against Leeds in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 17-12. Can St. Clair County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
