The Hondo Owls have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They had just enough and edged Dilley out 55-52. That's two games straight that Hondo has won by exactly three points.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dorian Aranda, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Gonzales, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Hondo's victory ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-21. As for Dilley, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.
Hondo will head out on the road to challenge Crystal City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Crystal City's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Dilley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lytle at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Lytle has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
