Aurora had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Copley Indians. The Greenmen have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Aurora got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 22-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-11.
Aubrey Verdova paced Aurora's offense, picking up 18 kills. Verdova got some help from Kaylie Liepins and her 51 assists. Liepins was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.
Despite the loss, Copley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jayli Owens had 34 digs and three assists. Those 34 digs set a new season-high mark for Owens.
Aurora's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Copley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.
